White Grizzly: Steep Trees, Deep Pow, and Pure Backcountry Skiing
When it comes to backcountry cat skiing in British Columbia, White Grizzly offers something few others can match steep, deep, tree-filled terrain and a fully private mountain experience. Nestled in the Goat Range of the Selkirk Mountains, our zone is one of the most snow-reliable areas in North America.
This isn’t casual, mellow skiing. This is for riders who crave untouched lines, technical descents, and the thrill of backcountry skiing in its rawest, most rewarding form.
The Terrain: Steep Trees and Cold Smoke Powder
Our terrain is what sets us apart. While many runs begin above the treeline for those bluebird cruisers, what we really live for are the steep tree lines, tight chutes, and powder pillows that demand creativity and skill. White Grizzly terrain invites you to pick your line, drop into fresh snow, and carve your own story all with the safety of an experienced guide.
Our private ski zone faces northeast, protecting it from sun and wind. This helps preserve the legendary Kootenay Coldsmoke dry, fluffy powder that keeps each turn light and fast. Whether it’s stormy or sunny, conditions are reliably good.
The Ride Up: Comfort with a View
Getting to the top is part of the fun. Our snowcats are heated, spacious, and equipped with comfy seats, storage space, and Bluetooth speakers for your own playlist. It’s a moment to warm up, hydrate, and get stoked for the next descent.
Only one snowcat runs at a time, so your group has the entire mountain to yourselves. And yes, a backup cat is always on standby just in case.
Our Backcountry Cat Skiing Packages
We operate from mid-December to early April the heart of winter, when the snow is deepest. Guests choose between three- and four-day packages. Expect 6 to 9 runs a day, adding up to about 5,000 vertical metres (or over 16,000 feet).
Who It’s For
White Grizzly is built for advanced and expert skiers and snowboarders. If you’re comfortable on double black diamonds or the steepest terrain at your local resort or black runs in Europe this terrain is for you. Deep powder, tight trees, and challenging drops aren’t optional here they’re the main attraction.
